On the vast estate dominated by the 19th-century Breitenburg Castle, alongside the 27-hole Schloss Breitenburg Golf Club, is a very modern luxury hotel by the name of Hotel Breitenburg. Built from the castle’s old stables, with a substantial contemporary addition, it comprises 80 rooms, each one decked out in stylish modern furniture and finished with lumber from the Breitenburger Forest. There’s a capacious and thoroughly equipped spa and wellness center, and the hotel’s restaurant, Johann, serves dishes crafted from painstakingly sourced local and seasonal ingredients, including venison harvested from within the grounds of the Breitenburg estate itself.
